Technical information

Thresholds
A full range of low-level thresholds is available which comply with Part M of the Building Regulations.

Composition
Sections extruded from Sheerblend lead-free calcium organic impact modified PVC complying with BS EN 12608.

Appearance
A smooth surface in white or various colours and wood grains with either an outward or inward opening facility. Doors can be either glazed with safety glass or thermally insulated panels. Low threshold options are also available, including wheelchair thresholds.

Size
Doors are manufactured to customer specification. Maximum recommended size for individual doors is 1000mmW x 2300mmH. All queries regarding size, range, design and function contact L.B. Plastics' Specifier Support Department.

Composite Doors

NK uPVC Products Composite doors are defined as a combination of PVC door outerframe with a door leaf of standard 44mm thickness made out of a range of materials from wood to metal and GRP.

This combination of materials can often give specifiers more choice in areas such as appearance, economy, strength or specialist performance such as disabled access or fire resistance. The Sheerframe door framing system is a speciality suite of profiles designed to work with all types of 44mm non-rebated door leaf.

The outerframe profiles are thermally enhanced and can come with a superior triple sealing system, making them more weather-tight and durable than traditional doors made solely from metal or wood. The Sheerframe door system has been tested and approved for 30 minute fire resistance to BS 476 : Part 22 (Chiltern International Report FER/FO 7024).

This fire performance approval covers doors with sidelights and includes glazed door-blades and glazed sidelights. This speciality fire performance is unique to the Sheerframe range.

Appearance
A smooth white surface or various wood grains. Profiles have a chamfered edge to match traditional sightlines.

Size
Door frames are manufactured to customer specification. Maximum recommended size for individual doors is 1000mmW x 2300mmH.

Casement Windows

CASEMENT 6000
Designed specifically for the new house building sector, this outward opening casement window has slim, fully bevelled or ovolo profiles incorporating co-extruded gaskets and weatherseals. This gasket and sealing system is hidden from the glazing sightline eliminating the black edge, usually found in PVC systems. These clean, clear sightines give a most attractive overall aesthetic.

Thermal Efficiency
6000 system casements are part of the enhanced thermal performance range which includes four chamber design and comes with co-extruded weatherseals to maximise weather tightness - 1000 pascals for air and water can be obtained.

CASEMENT 7000
Designed specifically to match traditional British windows, the outward opening casement window is available in two styles - standard, and with ovolo casement. NK uPVC Products casement windows are compatible with other NK uPVC Products window, door and curtain walling systems.

Residential Doors

The NK uPVC Products residential door range can be produced in a wide range of styles and finishes.

Doors can be outward or inward opening and come with a variety of thresholds and cill designs. U values down to 1.6W/m2K can be achieved to meet Part L of the Building

Regulations.
NK uPVC Products residential doors are compatible with other NK uPVC Products window and curtain walling systems.

Size
Doors are manufactured to customer specification. Maximum recommended size for individual doors is 1000mmW x 2300mmH.

Security and Weather tightness
Sheerframe 7000 has full accreditation to the door performance standard PAS 023 and the security standard PAS 024.

Weatherseals and Gaskets
Both Sheerframe 6000 and 7000 come with fully co-extruded weatherseals and gaskets which are welded at the corners to give exceptional weather tightness.

French & Patio Doors

NK uPVC Products French doors can be made either outward opening or inward opening. Requirements for restricted opening and safety doors can also be accommodated in the designs.

NK uPVC Products French doors are compatible with other NK uPVC Products window and curtain walling systems and can come with standard or low thresholds. Low thresholds are not recommended in high-exposure locations.

NK uPVC Products in-line patio doors come in 2, 3 or 4 panel options. Patio doors come with ovolo low gasket line co-extruded beading. NK uPVC Products patio doors are compatible with other NK uPVC Products window and door products.

Patio Doors - Appearance:
There are two options for NK uPVC Products patio doors - the first is tilt & slide comprising standard door profiles; the second is in-line, which has its own integral track. In-line facilitates the construction of multi-light doors - 2, 3 or 4 panes - if required.

Patio doors can be in a smooth white appearance or various wood grains or colours.

French Doors - Appearance:
A smooth surface in white or various wood grains. Doors are split generally equally, though unequal splits are possible. Sightlines can be adjusted to suit existing fenestration, as a number of profiles can be used.

NK uPVC Products tilt & turn windows are compatible with other NK uPVC Products window, door and curtain walling systems. DWER ‘A’ ratings are achievable under the current energy rating scheme.

Thermal Efficiency
U values down to 1.4W/m2K can be easily achieved to exceed Part L of the Building Regulations. Specialist low energy windows down to 0.8W/m2K are also obtainable.

The windows are manufactured to customer specification. Maximum recommended size for individual opening lights is 1550mmW x 1550mmH, although larger sizes are possible.

Fully Reversible Windows

The NK uPVC Products reversible window system offers specifiers the widest range combining fixed and opening lights, internally or externally beaded, and featuring either a rebated casement or flush finish.

A range of transoms and mullions provide additional configurations in a window whose opening style, featuring the purpose designed Sheerturn hinge, is ideal for domestic application including escape windows as well as medium and high rise dwellings and office or hotel accommodation.

Thermal Efficiency
7000 system reversibles are part of the enhanced thermal performance range which includes the use of Thermlock and four separate insulating chambers.

They also come with co-extruded weatherseals to maximise weather performance.
Up to ‘B’ ratings are possible under the current DWER rating scheme.

Appearance
A smooth surface finish in white or various wood grains. Either rebated or flush finish appearance is available.

Size
Windows are manufactured to customer specification. The maximum recommended size for individual opening lights is 1250mmW x 1600mmH, although larger sizes are possible.

Vertical Sliding Windows

Widely accepted for use in conservation areas, the vertically sliding sash provides a high performance, high security window which replicates the design and styling of the timber sash it replaces.

Options include deep bottom rails, ovolo beads, concealed gaskets and various astragal designs.

Available in several different sash profiles, the VS tilts in for easy cleaning and can be produced with both Gothic and Norman arched top sashes.

To comply with Part B means of escape regulations the NK uPVC Products VSS incorporates an original opening action with the bottom sash opening upwards to provide a means of escape.

The windows are manufactured to customer specification. Maximum recommended size for individual opening lights is 1550mmW x 1550mmH, although larger sizes are possible.

Escape
NK uPVC Products VSS can be specified for Egress with the bottom sash opening up for easy escape. Windows as small as 845mmW x 900mmH can meet Part B of the regulations.

Curtain Walling

The NK uPVC Products curtain walling system facilitates construction of a wide range of styles and sizes of curtain walling. A wide range of window styles can be fitted into the system. The grid has its own drainage, thermal break, expansion/contraction elements constructed into the system. For specific details on styles, structural calculations and loading data please contact us.

Appearance
Structural grids available in white or wood grain, into which can be fitted a range of window styles from all the NK uPVC Products systems.

Size
Curtain walling is manufactured to customer requirements, though all designs and combinations must be approved by NK uPVC Products Approval is based on required deflection properties, as required in BS6375 Part 1 and in combination with the existing building and specifier’s requirements.

Fittings & Hardware
For appropriate fittings and hardware refer to the individual window styles being used in the grid e.g., reversibles. Additional remote opening devices can be used on casement and tilt and turn styles where opening lights may be high.

Grid Structure
Curtain walling grids should be constructed with reference to the NK uPVC Products curtain walling manual and using the methods and components supplied by NK uPVC Products. Structural engineers should also be consulted on larger projects where they can advise on the correct interaction between building and grid.
